and a Struggling Economy?

Stress is one of the major factors
known to influence the abuse of
drugs, alcohol and tobacco, as well
as substance abuse relapse. MECCA's
prevention staff is involved in a
state-wide campaign to decrease
alcohol and drug use related to
on-going stress that people may be
experiencing as a result of last
year's flood and the struggling
economy. MECCA's prevention staff
are available to provide
presentations or distribute
informational resources to anyone in
Johnson, Cedar, Iowa or Washington
county who has concerns about
employees, customers, clients,
students, families, or any other
community member experiencing an
emotional impact from the recent
flood disaster and the economy.

MECCA is also offering enhanced
treatment services to individuals
seeking substance use
treatment who are experiencing
increased stress due to recent
events such as flooding and economic
hardships. In order to better serve
these individuals, MECCA staff is
offering specialized treatment
surrounding stress management and
additional case management services
to increase support and help
individuals access resources in
order to assist their recovery.
