- Where do you provide services?
MECCA
offers substance abuse and behavioral
health services in the primary service
area of Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Polk,
Warren, and Washington Counties in Iowa.

MECCA’s diverse staff is committed to
providing the best possible

Staff expertise includes substance abuse
counseling, psychiatry, vocational
rehabilitation, psychology, clinical
social work, public health, teaching,
and nursing.
- Is financial aid available?
Financial
aid is available for those who qualify.
A financial assessment of resources
and/or insurance is completed to
determine the amount of financial aid.
Applying: Everyone is encouraged to apply for
financial assistance. To be considered
for financial aid, please bring with you
the following information for each
person supporting your household: 1. Payroll stubs from the previous month
or most recent payroll stubs. 2. Income verification from The
Workforce Center. 3. Documentation of other income,
including but not limited to FIP, rental
income, social security, unemployment,
etc. Documentation: If you are applying for financial aid,
you must provide the above information
to be considered. Insurance:
Many insurance companies pay for
services provided by MECCA. Be sure to
bring your insurance card. You are also
encouraged to contact your insurance
carrier before you come to check on your
policy’s coverage. Whether on not your
insurance will cover services through
MECCA depends upon the type of coverage
and the conditions imposed by the
company in your policy. Title XIX does
pay for services provided by our
facility. Funding Sources: The financial assistance provided to you
comes from various sources depending on
the services you receive. These sources
include: local, county, state and
federal grants; and charitable
donations. Payment: All services are expected to be paid in
full upon completion. However, if you
have difficulty in doing so, we will
discuss this with you at the date of
service.
We accept personal checks, money orders,
cashier checks, VISA, MasterCard and
cash.
- How long have you provided services?
MECCA has
been providing community-based substance
abuse and behavioral health services for
over 35 years.
- Are the services really
confidential?
Anyone
may call MECCA with concerns about
his/her own or someone else’s substance
use. All calls are confidential. MECCA
will not release information about any
individuals without their prior, written
consent. Read our
privacy and
confidentiality policies.
- Do you do drug testing?
Drug testing is available upon request
for employers, family members, and to
meet the Department of Transportation requirements for drivers
and other safety sensitive positions. We
also perform drug tests randomly as part
of monitoring clients in treatment.
- How do I get to MECCA?

- Do you have a waiting list?
There may
be a waiting list to enter one of our
treatment programs. Treatment waiting
lists are handled by our intake
counselors, who can be reached at
319-351-4357 or 515-262-0349.
- What can I bring to residential
treatment?
Click

Treatment” includes a list of items that
can and cannot be brought into the
facility.
- When are visiting hours in
residential treatment?
We encourage friends and family members
to be a part of a client’s treatment
experience. A counselor must approve all
visitors before visiting day. Visiting
hours are Saturday from 1:00 pm to 5:00
pm. (Visitors must arrive by 1:30 and
attend family group in order to visit.)
- What is “detox”? How long does it
take?
“Detox”
provides a safe and supervised place for
people to withdraw while they are
closely monitored and supported. The
length of time required to detoxify from
alcohol and/or other drugs depends upon
the individual’s history, as well as the
combination of alcohol and other drugs
taken. MECCA has detoxification services
in Iowa City; in Des Moines, we refer to
area hospitals.
