Ron Berg
has over 27 years of experience in the
substance abuse field. He became a
practicum student in 1981 and completed
his Master of Arts in Vocational
Rehabilitation in 1982. After launching
his career as a halfway house counselor
at MECCA, Ron began supervising
prevention services and working closely
with community coalitions to address
substance abuse concerns. In 1984 he
initiated and developed Synchrony's
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
within MECCA. Ron was named Associate
Director in 1985 and then promoted to
Vice President of Clinical Operations
in 2002. Over the years, he has been
actively involved with the Johnson
County Decategorization Committee,
Johnson County Empowerment Board and
the United Way of Johnson County. |

Shannon
Wagner earned her Master's degree in
Health Promotion at the University of
Iowa in 1995, and has been with MECCA
for over 13 years. She began her career
at MECCA as a Prevention Specialist,
providing education in area schools and
the community. She moved on to
Prevention Supervisor, and with the
development of MECCA's first Community
Affairs Department, was then promoted
to Community Affairs Manager. She was
promoted to Vice President of Community
Affairs in 2008, and her duties today
include oversight of prevention, grant
writing, marketing, special events,
volunteers and fund development. She is
also involved with MECCA's Quality
Improvement initiative and pursuit of
CARF accreditation.
