Early Intervention Services (EIS):

EIS is a six-hour, research-based program provided by MECCA Services for youth who have received a drug or alcohol charge, have been found in violation of their school’s good conduct policy or have experienced another substance use incident and would benefit from additional education.

In EIS, youth learn:

• How to make choices that protect the things they value
• How an individual’s biology, along with social and psychological influences, interact with personal choices to determine outcomes
• How to prevent both health and impairment problems
• What research says is low risk for drugs and alcohol
• How to identify one’s personal level of risk for developing problems with drugs and alcohol
• How to develop individualized low risk guidelines to prevent future problems with drugs and alcohol

Registering for EIS: Call MECCA’s Iowa City office at 319-351-4357 to register for the class.

Cost: $150. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. If financial assistance is requested, it is recommended that parents or guardians make the call as they will be asked questions about household income.

Location: EIS is offered in MECCA’s Iowa City, Washington and Tipton offices once a month. View the class schedule.

Time: The six-hour class is held on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. each night.
